CORD leader the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga was yesterday Saturday 5th December 2015 mobbed by ecstatic crowds while transiting in Eldoret Town. The crowds had prior information that Raila would be passing through the city on his way to Soy and planned to stop his motorcade.
Traffic was held up for more than an hour at the busy Uganda Road as wananchi demanded that he address them. They were obviously eager to hear from Prime Minister Raila about the state of the nation especially the sinking economy , mass corruption in Jubilee regime, theft of Eurobond and NYS funds and progress of Okoa Kenya.
Hon Odinga addressed the cheering crowds tearing down Uhuruto’s predatory regime that has seen loss of billions of tax payers money through corruption and wastage via scandals like the Eurobond, NYS, Sex toys in office of the president, Galana Irrigation scheme among other scandals. Raila promised to release more information on the Eurobond in the coming days including the list of persons/people responsible for the colossal loss of public funds.
Raila said Treasury CS Henry Rotich was unable to explain how the $2 billion (kshs 250 billion) borrowed from the Euro bond was spent, dismissing treasury statements that the cash was spent on infrastructure. Raila said the Euro bond cash can pay for the construction of 30 roads built to the scale of the Thika Superhighway. “As an engineer, I know what that money can do . . . the whole country could have felt its impact,” he said.
The former Prime Minister faulted the Jubilee government over high taxes imposed on basic commodities. He accused the Uhuru administration mistreating teachers by refusing to pay their September salaries. “Uhuru gave direction that teachers must be paid their dues, the new Cabinet Secretary too gave the same directive. What is it with the TSC?” Raila posed.
Hon. Odinga had earlier met with newly elected ODM officials in the North Rift. Raila was also due to meet farmers’ representatives drawn from the bread basket of North Rift region.
The opposition leader was on his way to Soy to attend the colourful wedding of the daughter of Party official Joseph Misoi, a former Eldoret South MP.
